About Our Scoutmaster

Mr. James Belcher began serving Troop 145 as an Assistant Scoutmaster in April, 2018 and became Scoutmaster in June, 2019.

James is passionate about our community and has first hand experience with Scouting programs.  He grew up in Bland County, Virginia where he began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub in Pack 21.  He advanced through Webelos and received his Arrow Of Light and crossed over to Troop 21.  He progressed through the ranks and eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  James is also a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow where he served as Chapter Chief and Lodge Chief as a youth.  He also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 21 in Bland before moving to the New River Valley to start his career and family.  He attends St. Paul UMC with his wife, son, and daughter.  He is a Police Officer for the Town of Christiansburg, a RealtorĀ® with United Country Blue Ridge Land & Auction Company and is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Be Prepared... the meaning of the motto is that a scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise. Robert Baden-Powell
